Hello, fellas. How’s it going?
This week, I was craving for something spicy (like kimchi nor ramen) but we forgot to bought some, so I just wish I could baked some spicy bread, I’m very much prefer to it. (Hahah!) Just kidding.
Anyway, I keep on searching something I was craving for, until I saw a save pin on my Pinterest Board. A Sisigยน Tofu, it was a veganยฒ one (I’ll link the recipe below) since I’m not into vegan so I decided to have some twist. Well of course, I immediately check the fridge if we have some tofu, cause that was the most important ingredient. Then, check the rest of the ingredients, luckily we have them all ๐ (That was actually my face the moment I saw the firm tofu). Don’t worry this was my second time cooking this recipe, I can’t share the first attempt cause it was so devastating. Lols! So, lets prepare all of the ingredients and begin cooking!
The Ingredients:
550 grams extra firm tofu cut in cubed
3 tablespoons red bell pepper chopped brunoise
2 tablespoons (3 pcs) green long chili peppers chopped diagonally
1 medium red onion chopped fine diced
and cooking oil (for frying, of course)
The Sauce:
1/3 cup Mayonnaise (I used the Lady’s Choice cause that’s the one we have. I guess you can use other brands too, it’s still a Mayo โก)
1 tablespoon Liquid Seasoning (used to Knorr Brand here, I haven’t tried and taste the other brand of liquid seasoning but please if you try this and used the other brand let me know on the comment box)
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons water
The Process:
โข Prepare the sauce by combining all the ingredients. Mix well and set aside.
โข Heat the oil in a pot.
โข Once the oil gets hot, deep fry the cubed tofu until it turns light brown. Remove from the pot and place in a plate with paper towel. Set aside.
โข In a separate clean pan. Scoop 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil from the pot where the tofu was fried.
โข Saute onion, bell pepper and the green peppers. Then gradually add the tofu.
โข Pour the sauce mixture into the pot. Stir and continue to cook for 1-2 minutes.
Enjoy!

As always, Thank you so much for reading. I hope you can make or remake this recipe, and please don’t forget to let me know in the comment section on what & hows your cooking experience with this! ๐ค
Stay safe .. and cook that delish recipe. Sending some virtual hugs from Manila, Philippines to you! ๐ค

1 Sisig is a hearty Filipino dish, that is made up of meat from pigs, chicken or from a milkfish (locally known as bangus) that’s been boiled, grilled, and fried to crisp. Usually seasoned with calamansi, onions and chili peppers. Know More about Sisig

The main ingredient is the silken tofu (for those who do it at home) I am sure those who make legit taho does it differently.

That looks yummy! I love spicy foods too! Although it’s a bit different now, back then I have a high tolerance for spicy foods, not as much now, maybe because I’m eating less of it. It’s good that you shared this, also the process looks simple even for cooking beginners like me! โค๏ธ

Super! ๐ค Even I back then, I’m not into spicy foods but the moment I’m getting used to it, I guess those are my best days! Yeah, maybe you’ll try this one, just reduce the green chili’s like 1-2 pieces. I hope you like it! โค๏ธ
